1XV open Ulster Senior Cup defence

The 1XV made an impressive start to the defence of their Ulster Senior Cup title with a convincing 35-7 victory away to City of Armagh.

The opening 40 minutes was closely contested. After a bright start John Dickson was injured and to had to leave the field playing no more part in the game - we wish him well with his recovery. Whilst Hinch had the ascendancy in the line outs, loose play and backs, Armagh made their ascendancy in the scrum tell and just before half time the score was level at 7-7 before Lewis Stevenson scored try to give Hinch a 14-7 advantage at the interval.

Hinch took control after the break, with Aaron Sexton completing a superb hat-trick of tries and Ryan Connolly adding a fifth try for the visitors. Conor Rankin was also in excellent kicking form, converting all five tries to contribute 10 points.

It was a strong all-round performance from the defending champions and an ideal start to the Ulster Senior Cup campaign.
